Sydney Joyner recently graduated with a BA in Musical Theatre from California State University, Chico. A few of her recent roles include Sister Chantelle in Bare: A Pop Opera and Libby in American Idiot. One of her favorite roles was Betsy in As It Is In Heaven; this musical by Arlene Hutton has only 9 characters, all female, and was sung completely acapella. Although only 25 years of age, Sydney has played characters as old as their 50s. Her eagerness and enthusiasm for performance have allowed her to play lead characters as well as being in the ensemble. Whether it be a Greek tragedy or an indie-rock musical, Sydney's resume shows versatility, playability and positivity.

For nine months out of her four years of college, Sydney was lucky enough to study abroad at the University of Essex in England. Under the tutelage of Anne Eddington, she studied plays from multiple countries that all had an element of misrule about them. While in England, she also performed in a traditional English Panto, ran sound and lights for a production of Crime and Punishment, and observed over 30 live theatre performances. She may not have been in many performances while abroad, but the experience and knowledge she gained during her time are far more valuable than a resume credit.

When out of the spotlight, Sydney enjoys spreading her creative wings in other areas such as baking, sewing, and handicrafts. She prides herself on being able to quote her favorite movies word for word and often involves her two pet dogs in recreating her favorite scenes. Like all great theatre, Sydney is a work in progress and is always looking for people interested in helping and growing with her!
